MADISON – Kyle French, Wisconsin’s sophomore place kicker with two missed extra points and a couple out of bounds kickoffs, will handle field goals and extra points for the Badgers against Illinois Saturday afternoon.
Jack Russell, UW’s freshman kicker that missed an extra point and 41-yard field goal in its 30-27 loss at Nebraska last weekend, will handle kickoffs.
The move is another in a seemingly revolving door at the kicker position, one where neither kicker has assumed control of an open job through five games to open the 2012 season.
“The kicking game has been a little up and down,” UW head coach Bret Bielema said after UW’s loss to Nebraska. “Both of them at times show really, really good things. It’s made it difficult to decide where to go and what to go with.
“You (would) really like one guy to kind of stand up and take control. It hasn’t been able to happen for us at this point.”
