Badgers basketball: Dekker impresses in Vegas

Jul 09, 2014 -- 11:15pm
MADISON - The national media documented every move LeBron James made on Wednesday in Las Vegas as they awaited word on where he’ll be playing next season. The NBA’s most high profile free agent was in town for his annual skill’s academy – a collection of 80 of the best high school players and 30 of the best college players. While most in attendance focused on King James, a University of Wisconsin player – Sam Dekker -- garnered plenty attention of his own.
Invited to the academy after a standout performance at Kevin Durant’s camp late last month, Dekker measured in at 6-foot-9, 229 pounds, which was two-inches and nine pounds more than he was listed at during his sophomore season.
Based on Twitter reaction, it was a mostly positive day for Dekker.
Among those working the players out at the camp was ESPN’s Jay Bilas, who probably made Dekker feel like UW coach Bo Ryan was running the practice.
