INDIANAPOLIS – Four Michigan State players topped double-digit scoring and the Spartans rolled past Iowa, 92-75, in the first of four quarterfinal matchups from Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Draymond Green, the Big Ten’s player of the year, led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also collected 10 rebounds. Adreian Payne (16 points), Keith Appling (12 points) and Brandon Wood (10 points) helped Michigan State compile 92 points, just two shy of the Big Ten tournament record.
Michigan State jumped out to a 55-39 halftime lead after shooting 70 percent from the field during the opening 20 minutes of play. The Spartans ended the contest shooting 58.2 percent from the field.
Iowa freshman guard Josh Oglesby led all Hawkeye scorers with 20 points. He hit five of his seven 3-point attempts.
Michigan State moves to the semi-finals. It will take on the winner of the Wisconsin-Indiana game.
